Blissed out...

I love that term. Blissed out. It really captures it's own meaning.
Even the sound of saying it rolls of the tongue with an happy lilt.

It's when everything in life aligns to be just right. Just perfect.
You get this profound sense of satisfaction and wellbeing.
As if just being there in the moment is healing and nourishing to the soul.

Sometimes these moments are literally just that, fleeting moments, sifting all too
quickly through our busy lives. Sometimes they last longer for a few hours even a day or more.

These moments of true bliss don't have to wait to be enjoyed on the perfect tropical holiday, or a romantic date, or a birthday party. We organize those things, hoping that bliss will come. How often though have you just being stressed out by the big birthday event or the holiday that was meant to be relaxing.

Indeed I have found true moments of bliss to quietly sneak up on me. Unplanned and unsuspecting.

Emily nestled her head into my shoulder the other day after I picked her up. It was the first time she deliberately cuddled in. She tucked in, her big curious eyes watching noah play cars whilst she cuddled into the safety of daddies warm body.

Blissed out!

I was working in the garden ripping out the weeds (Bane of my life!!) and Noah was "helping" picking up big clods of dirt and helpfully turfing them onto my newly mowed lawn. The sun came out and it was nice and warm. Marie came out and we all got into the garden together, talking laughing and watching Noah throw dirt around and look for spiders ( His favorite activity!).
I know it sounds almost like hard work, but for some reason at that moment everything was perfect. I can't explain it. It was just brilliant.

Blissed out!

I'll be sitting on the couch in our lounge area watching Noah play with his cars or building blocks, Maria and I will be chatting over coffee and tea. Emily gurgling happily trying to gnaw a wipes packet to death. The sun will be streaming in through the window and everything is absolutely perfect.

Blissed out!

These are just boring everyday situations, but sometimes these are the best times in the world to me! It's not to say its always constant bliss in our household. Its crazy hectic running around most of the time chasing Noah, bouncing Emily. But there are those moments where everything is just perfect.

They are not fantastical climatic endings to a holiday or a party or big event. They are day to day moments. Moments that pop up and affirm you that what you're doing is right and worthwhile. That the effort you put in during those hectic and crazy hours, the sleepless nights, the tantrums, the sickness, the discipline. It's all worth it, the reasons are right there in front of you.

You don't need to go on holiday to find a reason, it's right there in front of you.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go spend some time getting blissed out with the family!
